Down East Hunting Retriever Club

The Down East Hunting Retriever Club (DEHRC) was founded in 1989 and is based in Eastern North Carolina. DEHRC is an organization for people interested in training and testing hunting retriever dogs.

We are affiliated with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the United Kennel Club (UKC). Our main focus is establishing a well trained gun dog to preserve game.

The club sponsors AKC Field Trials, AKC Hunt Tests, and UKC Hunt Tests as well as training sessions and informal Club Tests.

In AKC Field Trials, dogs compete against each other with just one winner.

In AKC Hunt Tests and UKC Hunt Tests, dogs compete against a standard, not each other. There are no 'winners', but there are many 'qualifiers'.

It looks like we have another winner. The bird is down and that dog is gone . . .
